Well stocked

Even if we say it ourselves the Garden centre is looking really great this week simply bursting with a great selection of plants ready to brighten up your gardens.
This is probably the best time to buy as the plants are fresh and offer great value for money.
If the long hot summer is on its way then this may be last time the place is so full of wonderful plants

Toona

In the middle of the garden centre there is a tree called a Toona sinensis, this always causes a stir with our customers with its attractive spring foliage.
Come and see it for you self, fortunately we even have a few to sell. It prefers a site in full sun and also likes a fertile well drained soil

May Bank holiday

It goes without saying that not all the bank holiday was good weather. Sunday has given us a frost, enough to turn the leaves on may of the plants, thank goodness we put all the tender stock under cover. The Basil however is destroyed.
Today, Monday is so cold it feels more like a march day certainly not conducive to buy bedding plants, oh well there is always next year.

Seed sowing

We have finally found a use for the old glasshouse in the garden centre. We are producing the young plants for the Learning Garden in it. If you come along you will see it set out with masss of trays of seeds and young plants growing on waiting for both the weather and the ground to be ready for planting out.

Stock, stock and more stock

It seems like spring has started, this morning we had 6 deliveries in an hour and half. Stock is just piling in, plants, compost, giftware and gardening equipment. Even if we say it ourselves we think we have a great range of gardening products available, we are not an out of town superstore but a proper garden centre.
Conme along and judge for yourself and let us know if we are missing some thing you feel we should have, but please do not ask for Gnomes as that is something we will draw a line at.

The week ahead

At long last it looks like a week when the weather may be on our side. The forast is to become quite a bit warmer and drier, maybe even double digit figures.
With a bit of sun on our backs we have have a bit more confidence in bringing in more stock to sell.
At the end of the week our Early spring leaflet gets distributed, so look out for some offers on exciting gardening products, but act fast as this is very much time limited.

The icy weather claims a victim

Poor Julian feel off his scooter yesterday and has broken his wrist. We wish him well but are in urgent need of some diggers. We need to get plot 4 dug in the learning garden soon so we need volunteer help as Julian will be out of action for 6 -8 weeks
